About the ACC

The Salmon Tree Cycle is a project of the Arts & Cultural Commission of the City of St. Helens.

Established in 2005, the St. Helens Arts & Cultural Commission (ACC) is a group of volunteers dedicated to improving the livability of St. Helens by encouraging the recognition of arts and culture. In the past five years alone, the ACC fundraised to design, fabricate, and install artistic benches, bike racks, and cultural banners throughout the community. The members of the ACC hosted free craft workshops, a summer art show, and an annual trash can painting contest. In 2011, the ACC embarked on their biggest project yet, the two-phased Gateway Sculpture Project. Phase 1 was completed in 2014 and Phase 2, the Salmon Tree Cycle, has an anticipated completion of 2017.

Gateway Sculpture Phase 1

Created by artist Suzanne Lee, the sculptures mark the Northern entrance of St. Helens with two metal obelisk lanterns featuring cutout images of the history, culture, and natural assets of St. Helens and vicinity.
